Summary

Bonchaz Bakery & Cafe is a Vancouver based cafe and wholesale bakery that has been operating out of West Hastings since 2008. As the company expands and gains notoriety in the city a newer more refined look was chosen to evoke a high quality feeling. Much of what makes up the companies retail demographic is that of students who work in the education sector of the downtown core. However, the tourism sector has shown little interest thus far in the products or need to visit the cafe despite being in close proximity to tourist dense areas.

The new logo and branding direction is meant to counteract this issue and cater to this untouched audience. The logo was refined out of a loose art deco look into a more cursive old world European style reminiscent of mainland Europe cafe, pastry and bakery outlets. With this drastically different look this is meant to appeal to a Europeans and Asia Pacific audience of middle aged men and women traveling together or as a family unit who desire quality in their dining experience similar o that which they experience at home.
